“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
– Maya Angelou
Life for many of us is a survival game of just going through the motions and struggling to get by day in, day out. Truth be told, it’s difficult to go beyond this considering the hustle and bustle of life, trying to make it work with various disappointments and setbacks that crop up frequently. It’s tiring enough to just make enough to get through the day. However, it would be highly regrettable to take stock of your life many years down the line and realize you didn’t really live, you just managed to survive. You need to go beyond surviving and thrive.
To thrive means to grow and develop strongly, prosper, succeed, flourish while to survive means to sustain life and exist, get/pull through difficult situations, etc. Therefore, despite the difficult and challenging situations, pulling through is not the end of it, seek to go beyond that and grow stronger, flourishing and advancing. It makes for a more interesting and inspiring story.
More than just managing and keeping up appearances, you can beat the odds and thrive, living a meaningful life and contributing to others. Live life passionately, embrace and experience the moments, build up capacity, stretch and be extra!
Remember, you were made to thrive, not just survive. Happy new week!
